Michael Howard Welcomes Awards To Local Projects From £100,000 Fund
Folkestone and Hythe Member of Parliament, Michael Howard, has welcomed the award of grants to fourteen local projects from a fund of £100,000 set up by Kent County Council.
The money came from Kent County Council’s share of the proceeds of the Council Tax on second homes being levied by Shepway District Council. The County Council has decided that all the money it received from the levy should be spent in Shepway. Some of the money has been allocated on the advice of county councillors and the council approached Mr Howard for his advice on how to spend the remainder. Mr Howard invited bids for one-off payments from the local community.
Mr Howard said:
“I am delighted that so many good causes have benefited from these grants. It has proved to be a real boost for a number of local projects and I am pleased to have been able to assist in the distribution of the grants.”
